The Trident missile is an SLBM armed with nuclear warheads launched from a submarine. The missiles are ejected from their tubes amidst a sheath of gas bubbles so liquid never touches the missile. When the third stage motor fires, within two minutes of launch, the missile is traveling faster than 12,000 mph.
